    Walking Trails

The tree-lined streets of WAMM and adjacent neighborhoods provide easy access for a relaxing walk, even in warmer weather. If you'd like a more vigorous walk, Houston Parks and Recreation Department (H.P.A.R.D.) maintains over 163 miles of trails through parks, along streets and bayous. For competitive runners, Houston hosts the annual Houston Marathon as well as competitive running events throughout the year.

    Parks

Several neighborhood parks and greenspaces are within walking or biking distance of WAMM. Hermann Park is only about a mile and half from WAMM, providing space for an array of outdoor activities—yoga, walking, running, bike riding, picnics, kite flying, and just relaxing. The Museum of Natural Science, Miller Outdoor Theater, Centennial Gardens, a golf course, and Houston's Zoo are all within the Park. Other nearby parks are Memorial Park and MacGregor Park.

    Golf and Tennis

Houston's mild climate year round makes it a great environment for golf and tennis. WAMM is close to three public parks, two of which have public tennis facilities (Memorial and Homer Ford) and all three offer golf (Memorial, Gus Wortham, and Hermann Park). Parks in nearby neighborhoods, such as Cherryhurst Park and West Gray Service Center, offer a couple of public tennis courts. WAMM is also close to several private tennis clubs, both indoor and outdoor, and golf courses.
